7 Natural Face Toners For A Healthy, Glowing Skin

For oily skin type: mix 1T apple cider vinegar in 1c water or add 1T fresh lemon juice to 1c witch hazel or filtered water. For all skin types: brew 1c chamomile or green tea; let cool to use. Or infuse 1c water/witch hazel with 1/2c cubed cucumber. Equally soothing can be rose water prepared by adding 1/2c rose petals (both fresh and dried) to 2c filtered water.

After washing your face, use a toner to remove leftover dirt and makeup. It’s a good way to keep your skin nice and clean! But store-bought toners are pricey and full of chemicals. Here are seven natural face toners that you can use instead.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Skin Type: Normal, Oily

As an antibacterial, apple cider vinegar is excellent for the normal and oily skin. It can even restore your skin’s pH, especially if it’s “that time of the month.” But since apple cider vinegar is very strong, be sure to mix it with water. A 1:1 ratio will do the trick.

2. Green Tea

Skin Type: Dry, Normal, Oily

Green tea can feel like silk on the skin. To make it, simply brew 1 cup of green tea. Once it has cooled down, it’s ready to use. For extra antibacterial properties, add a 10 drops of tea tree or lavender oils.

3. Lemon Juice

Skin Type: Oily

Lemon juice can brighten dark spots and remove excess oil. Simply add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to 1 cup witch hazel or filtered water. After applying it, avoid the sun for a few hours. Avoid getting it on pimples, it might burn!

4. Rose Water

Skin Type: Dry, Normal, Oily

This light and fragrant toner is amazing for all skin types. It can even double as a perfume! To make it, add ½ cup rose petals to 2 cups filtered water. Both fresh and dried rose petals can work. For an even lovelier scent, add 10 drops of rose essential oil.

5. Chamomile

Skin Type: Dry, Normal, Oily

Chamomile is extremely soothing, making it ideal for extreme skin conditions. It can ease the pain from dry skin that has become patchy and flaky. But it can help relax acne, too. To make a chamomile toner, soak ½ cup dried chamomile in 2 cups witch hazel or filtered water. You can also use chamomile tea.

6. Witch Hazel

Skin Type: Normal, Oily

Witch hazel is a wonderful toner by itself. But it can irritate dry skin, so only use it if your face is normal or oily. You can use witch hazel by itself or as a carrier for ingredients like rose petals, lemon juice, or chamomile.

7. Cucumber Water

Skin Type: Dry, Normal, Oily

Cucumber has a cooling effect both inside and out! Infuse 1 cup of water or witch hazel with ½ cup cubed cucumber. Pat it on your face whenever you need a refreshing pick-me-up. It’s especially soothing on dry patches and acne.

When making a natural toner, use organic ingredients. It’s the best way to be safe about what goes on your skin. You should also do a patch test before using it.
